Data deletion

Deleting your data

You can ask us to delete your account and everything we hold about your business at any time, and we do it. Here is how to ask and what happens next.

Last updated: 1 September 2026

How to ask

Any one of these reaches us, and one is enough:

  • Message DELETE MY DATA on WhatsApp to 0781 653 156, the number you already use to record your business.
  • Email hello@qonta.rw from the address on your account, with “delete my data” in the subject.
  • Write to a person on 0781 653 156, our help line.

We may ask you to confirm from the WhatsApp number or email address on the account before we act. That check exists so nobody else can delete your records.

What gets deleted

Everything tied to your account: your profile and business details, every transaction you recorded, your debtors and what they owe, your invoices and quotations, your customers and products, your reports, and your message and delivery history with us. Your account is closed and you stop receiving anything from Qonta.

How long it takes

We confirm the request within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days. Copies held in encrypted backups are removed as those backups age out, within 90 days at the latest, and are not used for anything in the meantime.

What we may have to keep

Where the law requires it, we keep the minimum needed and nothing more: records of payments you made to us, for the period Rwandan tax and accounting law sets. We will tell you plainly if that applies to you.

It cannot be undone

Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore your records afterwards, so if you want to keep them, ask us for an export before you ask us to delete, and we will send you your data first.
